How To Remove An Apple ID From Your iPhone

What if you don’t know the previous owners password?

If you don’t have the old owners password, or can’t get it then the iPhone is useless to you unless you can get it unlocked from the iCloud account.

If your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch have been locked to a previous owners iCloud account then look at this article on How To Remove, Unlock, or Bypass iCloud Activation Lock on iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.

What you should check before you buy a second hand iPhone

It’s important when buying a second-hand iPhone to ensure that the Apple ID has been removed. If it hasn’t then it is useless to you – even if you have the passcode.

You can do this by:

1. Click Settings

iOS9 upgrade - settings

2. Scroll down to where it says iCloud and check that no email address is listed below it.

icloud settings
